A Creative Landscaping Idea For Your Garden

Creative landscaping is what you need if you feel that your garden or yard looks unattractive. It is not that hard to do this because you can simply take old ideas and use them in a different way. Perhaps you can be creative to make the flowerbeds more attractive or you can change an unused patch of ground into an interesting focus point. Try to imagine things that you have never thought before. Afterwards, you need to pump some effort into making your creative landscaping project becomes a reality.

You need to show some effort if you want to be different. You can go to a bookstore and buy some books on the subject. An easier and cheaper alternative is to walk around the neighborhood to get an idea and to find a way to improve and make the idea original for your garden and yard.

A rock garden

A rock garden is a perfect choice of creative landscaping. It is easy to create and it requires low maintenance. An ideal location for a rock garden is an area that slopes and has good drainage. This is because plants that are suitable for rock gardens do not prefer soggy soil.

For the rock material, you have two choices. You can use existing rocks in your garden or you can order them. Afterwards, you need to dig the area that will be the rock garden. You should put small stones as the perimeter of the digging area. Two or three large rocks are put in the bottom of the rock garden and smaller stones are used to fill the spaces. Lastly, you add sand and topsoil on top of the stones and rocks in all available spaces.

For the plants, verbena, geraniums, and alpine plants are perfect for the rock garden. Other bedded plants can also be used for this particular creative landscaping idea. It is not advisable to use plants that need to be sown. Before planting the plants, it is a good idea to add some compost to the small spaces for the plants to root.

Now, what you need to do is to create a stream. You will need a water pump and some flexible plastic tubing. The tubing can be placed through the rocks so the plants will have a source of water. The end of the pipe is rested in a small pond so it can keep pumping water continuously. You can make the area to resemble a mountain surface, which looks wild and untamed. This simple creative landscaping idea will make your garden unique and become the envy of the neighbors.
