Varieties And Common Functions Of Landscaping Bushes

Landscaping bushes can be very useful to improve the appearance of your garden. They come in different varieties, from a mere one foot tall plant to several feet high. The shrubs themselves can be evergreens, flowering plants, or even bear fruits. Their presence will beautify your garden as long as you design them properly. Regular trimming and maintenance is another secret of landscaping bushes.

Golden Duranta or also known as Golden Dewdrop is a popular landscaping bush. It has light yellow foliage which will turn dark green when there is not much sun exposure. When it matures, it bears small berry-like fruits. This bush can tolerate dry period for some days, but it will flourish when it is watered every day.

Another good looking flowering bush that you can consider is Ixora. It is well known to attract butterflies. There are many varieties of this plant and there are different colored flowers that you can choose. Orange and light yellow are common flowers of this landscaping bush.

The Gold Lantana is another type of landscaping bushes that you may want to consider. Its bright yellow flowers look amazingly showy nearly all year round. You cannot expect this bush to grow tall though because this is a low growing evergreen shrub. Normally it grows up to around three feet.

How to use landscaping bushes

Landscaping bushes are commonly used as a perimeter fence, semi privacy, formal hedges, and to highlight a certain aspect in your garden. If you want to use them as a perimeter fence, it is advisable to use landscaping bushes that can grow quite high. Perhaps in the beginning you do not want them to develop great height, but at least they need to have that capacity when the need arises. Not many people like to have a perimeter fence that grows only around three feet tall.

For semi privacy, surely you need landscaping bushes that can grow tall enough to hide your garden or home from view. There are many bushes that can grow to ten feet tall when they are allowed to grow. As for formal hedges, they look more aesthetic as compared to others. They need constant trimming and maintenance to look their best.

As mentioned before, landscaping bushes are useful to highlight a certain aspect in your garden. For instance, a fountain or statue can be surrounded by bushes to make them appear more prominent. You may want to plant these bushes under your windows to keep peeping toms around your house.
